Insurance is a necessity in any Tree Serivce

DW Tree Service has a $1 million dollar policy coverage in every job that it undertakes.  But, as long as DW Tree Service has been in operation, we have never needed that insurance (Praise be to God!).

We have cut down and trimmed hundreds and hundreds of trees to this point.   And although it is a comfort to have insurance, we emplace procedures to ensure we never have a need to use that insurance.  We know that we can damage our customer’s houses, cars, and greatly affect their lives.  So we take our responsibilities very serious.

When cutting down a tree there are so many variables that can affect how and where that tree or branch will fall.  We look at where the tree is leaning, how much weight is pulling the tree in each direction, the type of tree, how healthy the tree and the bark is, the height of the tree, and the direction of the wind.  Each of these variables play a significant role in determining where that tree or branch will fall.  Thus, with each cut, we have to re-evaluate the tree.  It can be very slow and methodical work.

And yet as long as we have been doing this, trees can still surprise you.  On one tree removal, the tree was dying and leaning over a car port.  The tree was about 40 feet tall so we needed our boom lift to reach the top branches in order to take the tree down safely.  As most know, the wind in Lawton comes from the South West.  However the very day we begin to start working on this tree, a storm rolls in from the North.  And just as we are set up, and are ready to start taking the tree down, a huge gust of wind blows the top portion of the tree down, just nicking the car port.  The client was there, and was just surprised as we were at this odd timing.  Praise God that we had already disconnected the power, because if the power line would have been up, there would have been more than just a small nick in the car port.
