Reasons for trimming your trees
Dead branches: Dead branches can be a danger to people, cars, structures and the tree itself. Dead branches can fall suddenly and with no warning. For this reason cutting them out of the tree will make it much safer. Dead branches can also be infected with bugs or disease cutting them away can keep it from spreading to the rest of the tree.
Endangering structures or power lines: Trees many times grow bigger than we expected them to. Sometimes when this happens the branches can begin to hang over your house or maybe your power lines. Many times it is better to remove these branches to keep the branches from damaging your house or falling on your power lines and causing you to lose power.
Shaping: Shaping trees can be very beneficial. It keeps the tree from growing too big. It allows for new consistent new growth and makes the tree visually pleasing.
Thinning, lifting and lighting: Trees can become dense with new growth. Thinning that new growth out of the middle of tree allows for air flow and a healthier tree. Sometimes it is necessary to lift the tree by removing low hanging branches. That way you can walk under the tree without hitting your head. Lighting the outer part of the branches helps keep undo strain off the branches helping them handle ice and high winds without damage.
As always damage to the tree can occur if you over trim. That's why here at DW Tree Service we strive to do the most good for your tree with the least amount of trimming as possible.
